A B O U T :

My journey into photography started in high school as a hobby (thanks Mom)!  It wasn't until college that I truly fell in love. I still remember the overwhelming feeling of developing my first roll of black-and-white film in the darkroom, and making my first print. I was seriously hooked after that.  I live in Powell Tennessee with my husband Ben of 6 years and my best cat friend in the whole world (for 17 years) Mimi.

I am obsessed with chips and salsa- I could seriously eat my weight in it everyday. My happy place is sitting on a beach anywhere doing nothing. My favorite place on Earth is Maui.  I hate my feet to be touched, and I detest olives. My favorite season is Autumn. I think the most beautiful sight is a subtle ombre of color across the sky, just after the sun has set. I adore my Grandmother's wrinkled and crooked fingers she taught me to quilt with. I love teaching and mentoring. I believe the most valuable thing in the world is time.

My style is natural, ethereal, and intimate.  I believe that my roots in film photography and my fine art background give me a unique artistic perspective that sets me a part.  I want every photograph I take to look like a beautiful painting.  I am drawn to radiant light, dramatic shadows, soft hues, bold pallets, textures, and most of all human emotion. I believe that love,  marriage, and family is life's ultimate purpose, and everyones story deserves to be beautifully relived.

In 2014, I began a photographic series entitled "Recessive". I believe that as an artist, it is important to create a personal body of work. Since its inception, photographs from this series have been published and accepted  into several fine art gallery exhibitions as well as solo shows.

My studio is located at Indigo Corner Studio
5111 Homberg Drive, Knoxville 37919

I am proud to be a founding board member of The Knoxville Community Darkroom. Find out about what our non for profit does for the community at www.theknoxvillecommunitydarkroom.org

I am based in East Tennessee, but photography has taken me to far away lands, and I would love to see more!

Hello my name is Abby and I want to be an artist.
Say hello to the 8-year-old me the night before a 2nd grade presentation on “What I want to be when I grow up”.  I came across this photo in a box at my parents house some time ago, and I was shocked to say the least. Very rarely do we actually get to become what we dreamed of as a child.  I consider myself an artist, my medium is photography, and I live it everyday proudly!  photo cred: Mom
