Classic Green, White, and Blush Summer Wedding at Marblegate Farm in Knoxville

We all remember our childhood crush. Whether he was the dreamy boy next door or the 4th grade class clown, he lives on in half-forgotten memories…and in dad’s catalogue of embarrassing stories to tell at the worst possible times. But for most of us, that’s all a first crush ever is: a memory. For Fionnie, her childhood crush became so much more. On a radiant summer day at Marblegate Farm in Knoxville, Fionnie’s lifelong crush, Jacob, promised to love her forever.

This fairytale wedding day was all greens, whites, blushes and mile-wide smiles. Though it threatened to rain all week, and even drizzled a little that morning, when the time for the first portraits rolled around, the sky glowed as brightly as the faces of the bride and her cheerful bridesmaids. I like to walk and talk with my couples during portraits, giving them time to loosen up and relax before we start taking pictures, and no matter which direction we turned, there was another gorgeous summer view. From the lush trees to the vibrant fields, the greens burst with joy and life, and came out beautifully on the Kodak Portra 400 film I used to photograph the wedding.

The stunning floral design by Samuel Franklin brought the dreamy, organic theme to the next level. From the bouquets to the centerpieces, the arrangements were overflowing with an unaffected natural beauty that is so difficult to achieve. But most beautiful of all was the love in the couple’s eyes as they said their long awaited vows. The picture-perfect reception sparkled with euphoric laughter until Fionnie and Jacob ran into the night and into the rest of their lives under a canopy of sparklers as husband and wife.

Photographing my first wedding at Marblegate Farm was absolutely perfect thanks to the stunning venue and the impeccable planning of Whitney Bowman Events. I can’t wait to work with them again soon!

Great looking photos. Surprised that you could pull off night photos with Portra itself. Amazing colours.
